Dear Students;

Fırat University Faculty of Fisheries was established in 1982 as the School of Fisheries and was transformed into the Faculty of Fisheries in 1992. Four-year undergraduate education is given under the name of Fisheries Engineering Department within our faculty. Our faculty has a very strong physical infrastructure and academic staff. Our graduates are awarded the diploma of Fisheries Engineering. In addition, postgraduate (Master's and Doctorate) education is also provided in the Departments of Fisheries Basic Sciences, Aquaculture and Fisheries Hunting and Processing Technology.

There is a wide working area for the graduates of our faculty. Our graduates work in many fields, mainly in some organizations affiliated to our Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, some municipalities and private sector. Especially in recent years in our country, there has been a rapid development in aquaculture and aquaculture on the basis of private sector. Because aquaculture products have an important share in animal food exports from our country and the demand is increasing every year. As a result, our aquaculture production capacity increases every year, which increases the need for aquaculture engineers. Perhaps the biggest problem of humanity in the future will be to find food in sufficient quantity and quality. The biggest source of this food will undoubtedly be Fisheries. This situation will ensure that the profession of Aquaculture Engineering will be among the favorite professions of the future.
